ABOUT US
OZAPATO – Born in Mexico was founded in 2013 and is the lovechild of a Mexican-born designer and shoemaker Nancy Ramirez and French entrepreneur Fabien Georjon. The brand finds its roots on Mexican folklore and imagery bringing industrial quality standards to safety and casual lines of shoes and boots.
Originally, OZAPATO was known as Calzado-Temo, Nancy Ramirez family footwear company located in the mountainous region of Hidalgo, Mexico. Founded in 1990. The factory originally called Calzado-Temo started out making leather glove for the local industry. It started as a micro-company operating just a few machines out of the family living room.
2 years later, the first craftsman that ever work in the company decided to try and make shoes instead of gloves using the leather they had cut. It turned out pretty well and soo the small factory started making boots only. They already had experience crafting and stitching leather, and quickly learnt how to make boots. At the end of that year the factory reached an output of just 50 pairs / week on the first year.
HOW DO WE DO IT ?
Today, OZAPATO still produce in our factory located in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. OZAPATO has an output of about 8000 pairs / week and we have representations in Mexico, Panama and the United States. The factory specializes in making waterproof goodyear welt safety boots and leather sneakers.
We only use the best quality materials to ensure the comfort and resistance of our shoes. All OZAPATO products are handmade in our Pachuca (Hidalgo, Mexico) workshop. Our business model connects the customer directly to the workshop, cutting all middlemen out of our supply chain. This process allows us to offer unique handmade shoes at an affordable price.
WHY OZAPATO?
We were born out of the commitment to serve our local community and that people should come first. Shoe production should be a transparent process that sustains the socio-economic balance within the community it inhabits.
OZAPATO’s core value of disintermediation (direct delivery between producer and customer), believes that every step in the shoemaking process should provide value to the People.
Our team loves to develop shoes that are produced in a socially and economically fair process. We also want our clients to feel confident that they are not just buying a well-made, good-quality product, but are also a part of an honest trade in which all stakeholders in the supply chain are fairly treated.
